Polti was established in 1978 thanks to the intuition of Group founder and Chairman Franco Polti.
In the 70s Franco Polti was a representative for professional steam irons.
While conversing with a customer, Polti saw a need for a boiler iron offering the same performance as a professional iron – used exclusively by cleaners in those days – but more compact and easier to handle for use in the home.
 |

So in 1978 Vaporella was born, the first steam iron with separate boiler for domestic use.
With Vaporella, Polti opened up a new market that now sees more than 10 million appliances sold every year in Europe alone.

Sticking to its philosophy of innovation, Polti decided to exploit once more the force of steam to make house work easier and in 1983; he created Vaporetto, the first environmentally friendly appliance which cleans the entire house simply with the power of steam at 120°.
Ecology, safety, universality and easy use are the pros of Vaporetto, which alone gave way to a new concept of cleaning: and once more Polti opened a new market.
As years went by, the fame of Vaporetto became so popular and pictured such an image of high quality that Vaporetto became synonym of a product category.
|
In 1984, Polti founded its first stock company settled in Olgiate Comasco, whilst the launch of the factory in Bulgarograsso, which remains the headquarter of the group, took place in 1994.
Polti’s creative energy did not stop. In 1994 the range of Aroma coffee machines was born.
In 1996, the plant of Araras in Brasil was opened to produce the appliances for the South American market. |
 |

1999 saw plenty of new developments. Polti launched Lecologico, an exclusive vacuum cleaner with a water filter that does away with the need for paper dust bags and, thanks to a sophisticated multi-stage filtering system and a Hepa filter, retains everything it suctions up and returns purified air to the room.
|
 |

Drawing on its experience in steam cleaning and water-based suction technology, in 2000 Polti launched the “Vaporetto Lecoaspira”, combining the benefits of steam cleaning and a quality vacuum cleaner with a water filter in a single appliance. The Vaporetto Lecoaspira cleans, washes, suctions, dries and…. purifies the air.

In 2005 Polti joined the capsule coffee machine market with its @Espresso Crema machines and AromaPolti coffee blends. AromaPolti was set up, a separate company concerned with packing coffee in capsules and distributing it to world markets.
|
| 2006 saw the birth of HP007, a new line of ecological cleaning products, and “Mondial Vap” appliances for professional cleaning. |
 |

In late 2006 Polti introduced another important innovation: the “Sani System Polti” indoor sanitizer, patented world-wide, designed in collaboration with Pavia University Faculty of Medicine to respond to sanitization requirements in high-traffic locations where there is a greater risk of biological contamination. “Polti Medical Division” was established to develop and distribute “Sani System”. |
Sanitising indoor environments, making them healthier: this is Polti’s new challenge, with the Sani System for healthcare facilities, communal living facilities, catering, services and public transport.
Today, Polti is the main European manufacturer of small electrical steam appliances and a market leader in various countries.
Polti is one of the few companies that still produce most of its products in Italy; this means the company is able to control the entire production process and to guarantee high quality standards.
