| Rinse with lukewarm water: |

- raw tomato: first rinse with water, then sprinkle with talcum powder

- rust: on wool. On other fabrics, lemon juice and table salt
- iodine
- pomodoro crudo (per quest'ultimo, ricoprire poi la macchia con talco)
- mud (after having brushed it off when dry) on wool use water and vinegar)
- paint: mix one part hydrogen peroxide and four parts cold water, add a few drops of ammonia and pat the stain with this solution

- liquor: on wool and silk. On other fabrics, pat with water and glycerine, then rinse with water and vinegar
- fruit: on wool. Pat coloured cotton or linen with hot milk, white cotton or linen with perborate
- grease: dissolve salt in distilled alcohol or ammonia, brush and then wash in hot soapy water. Or, sprinkle with talcum powder immediately, leave it to soak up the grease, then brush it off

Use turpentine for:
|
- oil paint
- paint
- shoe polish: then wash in warm, soapy water
|
- vegetable oil: then pat with ammonia diluted in water, and rinse. Pat stains on silk, wool and synthetics with oil of turpentine diluted in lemon juice
|
- sap: on coloured cotton and wool. On other fabrics, pat with alcohol and then with ammonia and turpentine.
|
|
Use lemon juice for:
|
- tea: water and lemon juice
- blackcurrant: wash with a solution of lemon juice and vinegar, no water; then rinse
- felt pen: then wash in the machine
|
- ink: put a piece of blotting paper underneath the stain and pat it with pure lemon juice or 90% alcohol or hot milk
|
- mildew: soak in water and perborate overnight, then wash and rinse with water and lemon juice
- fruit
|
|
Use alcohol for:
|
- ballpoint pen: 90% pure alcohol, pat stains on wool or leather with petrol. Use bleach on white garments
|
- coffee: then wash with water and soap
- lipstick: Pre-treat indelible lipstick with a solution of glycerine and hot water
|
- grass: on cotton or linen. On wool, use a solution of 3 parts lukewarm water, 2 parts alcohol, and 1 part ammonia. Rinse with water and vinegar
|
|
Pat with hot milk:
|
- fruit : on linen and coloured cotton
|
- ink : use a piece of blotting paper
|
- wine : on silk and synthetics
|
|

try nail polish remover, then finish with distilled alcohol; but do not use solvents or alcohol on acetate |
| sweat |
pat with hot water and sodium perborate or with 1 part 20% hydrogen peroxide solution in 6 parts cold water; pat coloureds and wool with hot water and ammonia. If the colour has faded, pat with a solution of 1 tbsp white vinegar in 1 cup hot water. Wash wool and silk and then rinse in 12% hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar |

pat with cotton wool soaked in skin cleanser lotion, on all fabrics except synthetics |
| wine |
use white wine to get red wine stains out, and vice versa. Or, cover the stain with table salt, wait half an hour and then rub with hot lemon juice before washing. If the stain is on silk, rub it with water and white vinegar and then wash as usual. If it is on wool, pat with hydrogen peroxide, or use water and ammonia. Use hot milk on silk and synthetics |
