Acetates: hand or machine wash cool; gentle spin, drip dry.
Acrylics: read the label; machine wash cool if suitable.
Brocade: machine wash cool or dry clean as recommended. Drip dry.
Cashmere: hand wash in cold water with soap flakes. Rinse well. Do not wring.
Cotton: machine wash hot; separate whites and colours.
Denim: wash separately until you are sure the colour won't run. Wash inside out..
Fustian: hand or machine wash inside out as recommended.
Lace: remove stains with detergent before washing. Do not bleach.
Linen: machine wash as recommended. Test for colour fastness before washing.
Silk: hand wash in warm water. Some garments can be machine washed as delicates.
Wool: some woollens can be machine washed, others by hand only. Follow the instructions.
