  • Always test iron a small hidden area if you’re not sure how the fabric will respond to ironing.

  • Iron seams and gathers first, to restore the basic shape of the garment. Then proceed with other parts such as sleeves, collar and, last of all, flat areas.

  • Always iron in the direction of the cloth. Avoid making circular motions with the iron.

  • Take care never to iron parts of a garment which bear marks of sweat or other stains.

  • Never pull fabric or seams taut, which could create wrinkles.

  • Don’t iron over raised objects such as buttons. Take care not to iron plastic zips or any other decorations that could melt.

  • If you are dry ironing, order the articles or garments according to the ironing temperature, starting from the lowest temperature upwards. This avoids the risk of ironing delicate items at high temperatures.
